Axiom Space revealed its new next-generation space suit last Wednesday. The suit was the result of a $228 million task order issued by NASA to develop a design improving upon NASA’s existing “Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit” (xEMU).

Axiom’s suit provides better flexibility and protection, along with specialized tools that will help astronauts perform their tasks on the lunar surface. As of writing this, it’s been confirmed that this will be the suit used for the Artemis III mission. As a reminder, Artemis II will be a fly-by mission.

In order to mask what makes Axiom’s suit design special, there’s a cover in place around the suit. This cover is adorned in Axiom’s logo and colors of black, orange and blue. The final suit design will be white to help reflect the sunlight and heat astronauts will face while on the moon.
